Church Piano Program – Level 2: Preparing for Trinity College Initial Grade Exams

Welcome to Level 2 of our Church Piano Program, a specially designed course to help students achieve their musical aspirations through the prestigious Trinity College of Music. This course is tailored for students preparing to take the Initial Grade exam, providing them with the skills and confidence needed to excel.

Course Description:

In Level 2, students will deepen their understanding of piano fundamentals while focusing on the requirements of the Initial Grade exam by Trinity College of Music. Our comprehensive curriculum covers essential aspects of piano playing, including:

• Technique and Finger Exercises: Developing finger strength, dexterity, and proper hand positioning to ensure a solid technical foundation.
• Music Theory: Understanding basic music notation, rhythms, scales, and chords to enhance overall musicianship.
• Repertoire: Learning and perfecting a selection of pieces from the Trinity College Initial Grade syllabus, chosen to challenge and inspire students.
• Aural Skills: Training the ear through listening exercises, helping students to recognize intervals, rhythms, and melodies.
• Sight-Reading: Building the ability to read and play new music accurately and confidently.
• Performance Practice: Encouraging expressive playing and stage presence through regular performance opportunities and feedback.

For students who choose not to opt into the Trinity College of Music course, the program offers an alternative pathway:

In-House Stenlark Academy Music Exam:

Students will have the opportunity to prepare for and take the Stenlark Academy Music Exam, our in-house assessment designed to match the rigor and quality of external exams. This option includes:

• Custom Curriculum: Tailored lessons that align with the standards and expectations of the Stenlark Academy Music Exam.
• Internal Assessments: Regular evaluations to track progress and readiness for the in-house exam.
• Flexible Repertoire Choices: A variety of pieces selected to cater to different musical tastes and skill levels.
• Comprehensive Support: Ongoing guidance and resources to ensure students are fully prepared for their assessments.
